Teens of Color Abroad creates global language learning and cultural exchange programs for high school students of color.
About Us
Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA) provides high school students of color with global language learning opportunities. Our founder, Lamar Shambley, created TOCA to confront the racial disparity in language learning, cultural exchange, and study abroad opportunities affecting U.S. high schoolers of color. We primarily serve Black/African-American students, who are highly underrepresented in college study-abroad programs.
Our virtual and in-person programs offer students intensive Arabic, Spanish, or French language study, and cultural exchange workshops that connect our students to the world.
